Hikaruno Kagaribi (篝火 ヒカルノ, Kagaribi Hikaruno) is the director of the Kuromochi Research Center. She is also a former classmate of Chifuyu Orimura and Tabane Shinonono from when they were in high school.
Appearance[]
Hikaruno is a pretty woman in her mid-twenties with curly turquoise-colored hair in short twintails, large blue eyes, and a voluptuous figure. She is mostly seen wearing a navy blue IS suit complete with matching stockings and a lab coat with swimming goggles on her head. Her IS suit has a name tag on her chest. She also wears ping cat slippers in her laboratory.
Personality[]
Hikaruno is an eccentric and high-spirited woman, similar to Tabane Shinonono. She has been described by Ichika Orimura and another worker as a pervert, something she proved when she gleefully gropes the former's butt just for the fun of it without any shame. She would do this again whenever she happened to come across him. She had openly flirted with him and invited him to her room with clear sexual intention, despite the age differences between them. Her behavior causes those around her to find her exhausting.
Hikaruno admitted that she enjoys readjusting picky IS and collecting new data from IS. She especially enjoys making IS use weapons they don't 'like'. She can be very technical when explaining things, as she only described herself as a former classmate of Chifuyu Orimura and not a friend of hers.

Kagaribi is a highly intelligent scientist and engineer, given her position as the director of an IS research lab. She specializes in IS software.
Plot Synopsis[]
Kagaribi first appears when Ichika is sent to the Kuromochi Research Center to repair Byakushiki after the Golem III attack. After groping his butt, she is introduced as the director there by another worker. She quickly flirts with Ichika, inviting him to her room for some 'fun', which she means playing Old Maid. Ichika notes it's boring with just two people, so Kagaribi suggests they do something sexual, getting disapproval looks from Ichika and her co-worker. After complaining and drying herself off (having been fishing earlier), she properly introduces herself, including the fact that she's a former classmate of his older sister, Chifuyu.
They finally get started on the repairs, and Kagaribi realizes how damaged it really is. She gives Ichika a fishing rod, so he can pass the time as they repair Byakushiki.
Relationships[]
- Ichika Orimura - Kagaribi is interested in the male pilot as he's the younger brother of her former classmate, Chifuyu. Despite the age difference between them, Kagaribi enjoys flirting with him and groping his butt whenever she comes across him, much to his discomfort. Ichika feels uncomfortable being around Kagaribi due to her eccentric behavior and large breasts.
- Chifuyu Orimura - Kagaribi's former classmate. Their relationship is mostly unknown, but they aren't on bad terms. However, Kagaribi admits they aren't close enough to be called friends and are former classmates at best.
- Tabane Shinonono - Kagaribi's other former classmate. Although their relationship is mostly unknown, they seem to be on more neutral terms, but Tabane stated that she's years behind her, showing Tabane doesn't view Kagaribi as a rival. Like with Chifuyu, Kagaribi considers her relationship with Tabane to be former classmates at best.

- Hikaruno's surname Kagaribi means "bonfire" (篝火).
